Greetings! I am Brahm
Lyndonset, also known on the Main as Black Badger. I signed up and went on
the account with the crew of the Lost Cause since its creation in
November of 2005. I took up history as a hobby shortly
after graduating high school in 1997, and was a member of House Von Draken for
years before the sea called out to me. I’ve coordinated a few events and
demonstrations in my time, including the BYOS War and scenario competition,
school demos, and parades. Over the years I’ve learned to sew, herald, build
encampments, and other things in addition to fighting with spear and bow. I
have also been a regular article contributor to the Markland Plague, and I am
scientist in mundane life. In my free time, I continue my research into
nautical and pirate history. I love to travel, enjoy the outdoors, and
learning is my passion. When I'm with the crew, you can find me propped by
a roaring fire enjoying a tankard of my grog and good conversation.
Brahm was born in 1647, son to Robert and Eleanor
Lyndonset, who had recently emigrated from England to Bermuda. In 1662,
his family moved to the English colonial town of Port Royal to set up shop
amongst the growing economy of the time. Learning his father’s
trade, Brahm took up carpentry and worked on the docks, providing repair service
and supplies to the steady stream of ships that made their way to port. Though
his work was lucrative, his undeniable thirst for rum lead him to the local
taverns and shady nightspots on a regular basis. It was here that he first met
the English privateers and learned of their duties. And perhaps it was the
island life that drove him..perhaps it was the occasional character he’d meet at
the tavern, or the customers who paid for repairs with exotic luxuries instead
of coin. Perhaps it was the stories of notorious pirates who waged a war
against mankind and God, with the sea as their battlefield. Whatever it was, Brahm’s wanderlust was realized the day he met them. They
called their ship the Lost Cause, but to this day he still knows not
why. The evening he met them, entranced by their stories, the bawdy shanties,
and the lure of riches, he signed on...and the rest, as they say, is history...
