"In an honest service
there is thin commons, low wages, and hard labour. In this, plenty and
satiety, pleasure and ease, liberty and power; and who would not balance
creditor on this side, when all the hazard that is run for it, at worst is
only a sour look or two at choking? No, a merry life and a short one shall
be my motto."
-Captain
Bartholomew "Black Bart" Roberts-
We are the Pirates of the Lost
Cause,
an official group of Markland Medieval Reenactors and a family of affiliated
historic enthusiasts. Our cause may not
be a lost one, as we are in this to have a good time and perhaps learn a
little in our voyages. We went on the account in November of 2005, and
we continue to grow. Keep a sharp lookout for our crew, and mark my
words, your booty 'aint safe around the likes of us...but then again, it's
harmless fun..and everyone likes pirates!
Markland is a non-profit educational organization that
studies and re-enacts the cultures of the Middle Ages and related periods.
The crew attends public and private wars, feasts, parades, field trips, and
demonstrations up and down the Northeast coast, year-round. Many of
our members have years of experience behind us as medieval re-enactors, but
our turn to piracy is something completely new to us. As we continue our
second year as The Pirates of the Lost Cause, it promises to be an
exciting and educational voyage for all of us. Thank you for stopping
by!
